Lately, school’s keeping me tied down. That explains the 20+ comments that’s waiting to be replied to. It’s either that or I don’t have the energy for it. But it’s going to be done sometime soon. Though, my first week of school was pretty nice. I did get that Entrepreneur/Marketing class I wanted! But the downside is I had to give up Library service for it. It’s not too bad- at least I finished a semester there.

This semester, band is now called “wind ensemble”. It’s just another word for concert band. I love it because I’m playing Bass Clarinet! And I don’t have to deal with people as much! But either way during lunch, I’m helping out my “student” freshmen music for a regular clarinet. The only challenge in playing the bass clarinet is that I have to use more air for that powerful sound. I also have another parade to march in on Monday with the All City Band.

Today, I practically spent 8~9 hours with the Cyber Defense group at a University 45 minutes away. We had a training session on how to operate Linux. But it’s just basics, nothing much. I took some sloppy notes and it has it’s purposes. After lunch, we basically went over what to look for in the next competition. Towards the end, one of the speakers showed us how to make a website crash. It was pretty funny because they managed to crash one of the big sites for 2 minutes or something.

Congrats on your 4.0 GPA! and I’m glad that you got the class that you wanted. Getting the correct classes at my school is such a pain. And we usually have to drop one class to get another that we like. So I understand how that sucks. :/

Do all of the parades you march in with your school? Or do you do some on your own? The band at my high school marches in like two or three parades per year, but it seems like you march in so many!

Take your time with returning comments! School comes first! But seeing your wicked high GPA shows that you know your priorities! Keep up the good work! :D

I’m glad that band this semester is going better for you! Wind Ensemble sounds much less dramatic than marching band. :P

It sounds like you’re learning a lot in Cyber Defense group! You must be very technologically inclined!

Take care!

Congrats on your 4.0! That is awesome! Looks great for colleges lol Where is your top choices or where did you apply too? I am fasinated by the colleges people apply too. I actually like it when people post where they got into on FB because I get so excited for them. March is going to be a heavy load of fb status with what colleges they get into lol

In our school, Wind Ensemble is the honors weighted band, while Concert band is for 9th graders and symphonic band is everyone else lol. The bassoon I had was all old and icky. haha they case was falling apart. But they gave the two guys next to me, brand new ones. not fair…

What is the Cyber Defense group? I probably missed a blog about that lol

Thank you so much on the compliments on the layout :D

It’s taking me a while to return comments – just because by the time I write something I don’t feel like going to websites, I just want to sleep. >_< Glad to hear you got into the class you wanted, hope you enjoy it. And congrats on the 4.0 – senior year I had a 4.0 all year…first time EVER. But I only had 5 classes, ha ha. I think that helped a great deal.

I understand what you mean by getting tied down by school. It just keeps you SO BUSY! Congratulations on the 4.0!

Have fun in band and playing the bass clarinet! :D

Haha, that Cyber Defense group sounds really interesting! I’ve never used a Linux but I’m guessing it’s good for people who are good with computers because it’s open source, right?

I’m wondering if that awlays happens in America. This band thing is a sort of class? Something you get school grades for?In the Netherlands some (High-)schools have bands, but they’re an after-school activity that happens to be at your school with students from your school. Most people play in local orchestras, youth orchestras, or just only in music school. And you get to pick your own instrument Music schools host open days, where all the teachers come with their instruments to tell a bit about it and let people try. Both systems have their pros and cons, though. Band forces people to play a certain type of instrument and a certain type of music, but at least it is an accessible way to play an instrument. When you want to play an instrument here, you have to go to music school or an orchestra, it costs money, and some parents that never learned music themselves just don’t care for it and won’t introduce their child to it.
