Yesterday, there was power at school and throughout several communities in Los Angeles. The reason why there were no power was because of the “90 Miles Per Hour” wind that blew across in Wednesday night. There wasn’t much damage at home but trees in streets cracked! Again, we went through a blackout for 31 hours. Showering in the dark and sleeping in early isn’t too bad but it’s not as nerve wracking as not being able to get onto the internet anywhere.

At school, the power went out at 7:15 am, 45 minutes before school officially started. Dumb enough, school was still in session without power! A lot of classrooms were completely dark and a lot of classrooms couldn’t function because of how much it relies on electricity! When I heard the school that occupies inside my school was canceled, I wanted to go home. I got my mother to bail me out of school at 9:30.

Today, I wanted to skip school and I was about to– until the power came back on at 7:25 am. Even though I wanted to stay home and be lazy, my mother convinced me to go to school. The only thing that benefited me from going to school was that we took notes and had homework for Economics.. That’s all.

Tomorrow, I have All City practice once again. I’m not ready because I haven’t memorized the music that was given to us- mainly because trumpet is not my main instrument. But I’ll manage with something down.

31 hours with no power?! I’d go crazy not being able to get on the Internet for that long!

Good luck with the All City practice! And the trumpet? I can play four notes on it! Whoo hoo for my wonderful musicianship!

Geez-a-lou! That’s some crazy wind. We always experience blackouts in winter but only because of snow and ice. Never just because of wind. O.O It’s such a pain not having power.

Last year the power went out during school while we were taking our finals. It didn’t really affect me because I was just taking a written exam in pre-calculus, but I know a lot of people in the Engineering classes were doing it all online and they lost all of their work. D: Would’ve been awful!

Thanks for the encouragement! I ended up winning NaNoWriMo two days early! :D

That’s awesome that you still celebrate with your different background. Out of curiosity, do you know another language? My friend can speak Cantonese and I think it’s the coolest thing. :P

Oh my gosh, I heard about those incidents. People that go to those extremes just to get a good deal are crazy. That’s why we go later, avoid the crazies. lol.

I don’t like blackouts only because it makes me realise how much I rely on electricity. I would’ve thought if the power was out school wouldn’t be on, a lot of my school’s whiteboards are now smartboards so they require electricity.
I hate it when I don’t want to go to school, but I go anyway and we end up doing nothing, so it’s good that you at least did something in Economics.

I love school blackouts. There was a blackout a couple months ago when I was in the AP Art room, and that room is literally a closet. There were no windows or speakers or anything. There wasn’t even a security light. When the lights went out, my friend and I had to use our phones to guide ourselves out.

31 HOURS without power? Dang, I don’t think I could have done it! I would have had to go to sleep or something. But even that…I wouldn’t be able to do it all day.
I would not have gone to school. No point! lol Good luck, I hope you did good with the All City Practice!
